Plant Description
This specimen is characterized by a compact blue-green body with broad ribs and conspicuous, strongly curved spines. The buffalo-horn-like curvature of the spines is one of the most distinctive features associated with Gymnocalycium bayrianum.
The species is native to northwestern Argentina, particularly the provinces of Salta and Tucumรกn. Kew currently recognizes G. bayrianum as an accepted species.
